Radio Telemetry from MANNER – wireless, robust, and reliable Measurement Technology

Radio Telemetry – Battery and/or inductive Power Supply

The new system can be used both for short-term measurement tasks using a battery and for long-term measurements with inductive power supply and unlimited runtime. Measurement service providers therefore only need to carry one type of system with them in their hand luggage, which greatly simplifies logistics and maintenance. This means that even a system set up for short-term measurement can be easily converted to long-term measurement if required.

Like all our systems, the measured values are digitized with 16 bits and transmitted with code security. This guarantees not only high accuracy but also high reliability despite radio transmission. The incoming measurement signals are virtually “flawless.” Signal interference is a thing of the past. There is also no need to forego the familiar remote programmability with finely adjustable measuring ranges and auto-zero. In any case, the measurement data is transmitted digitally without any loss of accuracy and made available for further processing in analog form or via the CAN bus, USB, Ethernet, or EtherCat interface types. This means that a measurement service provider is ideally equipped for all tasks with a single piece of hardware.

Advantages at a Glance:

High resolution:

Wireless & robust:

Energy efficient:

Miniature design:

Remote control:

Multi-channel capable:

Multiple interfaces:

Integrated
data protection:

No retroactive effect in the event of a
short circuit

16 bits at up to 80 kHz sampling rate

Range up to 50 m, temperature resistant up to 150 °C

Battery operation up to 50 hours or inductive power supply

Ideal for confined installation conditions

Setup and auto-zero via app or software

Up to 244 channels in parallel (the system is available with 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels)

USB, CAN, Ethernet, EtherCAT, analog

The integrated CRC data protection detects and completely suppresses the sporadic transmission errors that are otherwise common with radio transmission

Each channel has its own AD converter and power supply. If a sensor short-circuits, there is no effect on the other measurement channels

  • Marine: Ship propulsion systems, shafts
  • Aviation: Propellers, engine shafts
  • Medical technology: dynamic systems

The Hybrid Kit now allows measurement data to be transmitted either inductively or by radio. This combines the respective advantages of the different system types. As is well known, the battery-powered radio telemetry system is extremely easy to use, as there is no need to install a pickup and rotor induction loop.

A special feature is that the system has a range of up to 50 m when battery-powered. This is ideal for short-term, so-called “quick and dirty” measurement tasks. Nevertheless, signal bandwidths of up to 40 kHz can also be achieved in multi-channel mode. In contrast, the inductive telemetry system is characterized by unlimited operating time and extreme robustness under difficult environmental conditions. Interference is irrelevant. Depending on the application, one or the other system type is advantageous.

To simplify commissioning, MANNER combines wireless telemetry with the new smart interface for smartphones and tablets. This makes it easy to check the status of the telemetry, the configuration of the measuring range, and the battery level using a smartphone. The complete setup of the measuring amplifier (measuring range, auto zero, oscilloscope, documentation screenshots, etc.) and the use of a new battery or rechargeable batteries can also be configured via the smart interface.

Switching the system on or off directly at the rotor component, which may be located under a vehicle or otherwise difficult to access, is now a thing of the past. The rotor can be put into operation via the software, the app, or a switch on the evaluation unit. The rotor’s sleep mode is very efficient, so even after more than a year, the system can be “woken up” without charging the battery.
