Piston Load

In addition to thermal influences, it is the mechanical demands that lead to increasing stresses and strains on the piston. The operating pressure acts on the surface of the piston and is distributed over the entire component. Two-stroke pistons must also open and close the input, output and transfer ports, in other words, they are responsible for controlling the gas exchange cycle. This brings with it, alongside the thermal effect, an additional mechanical load.

Over the years, Manner has optimised its sensor telemetry for this measurement task, thus enabling a precise analysis of the mechanical load within the piston, with the distribution of the forces on the individual regions of the piston at the forefront. The tried and tested benefits of Manner sensor telemetry also apply here:

  • Precise measurement of the effects of pressure and tractive force
  • High precision measured data thanks to precision sensor technology
  • Maximum data integrity via 16 bit coding and checksum code
  • Non-contact transmission of measured data
  • Simple to mount thanks to compact construction
  • No maintenance requirements
