The operating pressure acts on the surface of the piston and is distributed over the entire component. Two-stroke pistons must also open and close the input, output and transfer ports, in other words, they are responsible for controlling the gas exchange cycle. This brings with it, alongside the thermal effect, an additional mechanical load.
